I feel like you are looking through the window at my own thoughts and feelings over the past several months. How did you know? I really appreciate your soulful creative writing. It really gives me new insights every time I read an entry. I save your posts in my email to refer back to later..Take care sweet Lynn …and hi to your awesome husband.
Oh my friend, your words went straight to my heart. Thank you. It means so much to know that what I’m sharing is landing in a tender, familiar place for you. We’re all walking each other home, aren’t we? I’m so touched that you save my posts—that’s the highest compliment. And I’ll pass your hello along to my sweet (and very flattered) husband. Sending you a big hug and a whole lot of love. 💛
Thank you for honoring my feelings. With so much else happening, it feels better to let go of even the one thing that brings me peace. I hope to find it again.
Oh, I hear you. Sometimes even the things that bring us peace can feel heavy when life piles up. There’s no shame in pausing. Your creativity—and that sense of peace—will be there when you’re ready to return. Sending you so much grace and hope for the way back. 💛
Thank you for gently whispering tender permission slips to us. And loving reminders that baby steps count. I really struggle with what "counts" in my creative practice. Does creating a IG reel "count" as a creative practice? Does researching reference photos "count?" Does prepping for an art course where I teach a technique that I mastered a while ago "count" if now my art is very different.
As I type all this out, I realize that I am overthinking(!) and overly worried about meeting some external metric. I get to choose what "counts!"
Yes, yes, yes—you do get to choose what counts! And everything you mentioned absolutely does count. Creating a reel, gathering reference photos, prepping to teach—all of it is part of your creative rhythm. Not everything has to be a finished piece to be meaningful.
I love that you caught yourself in the overthinking loop mid-sentence—that’s such a beautiful awareness moment. We’re so conditioned to measure creativity by output, but really, it’s all part of the practice. The whisper, the wondering, the prep, the teaching, even the scroll through inspiration—it all adds up to a creative life.
Thank you for your thoughtful reflection and for being on this path with me. Baby steps, always. 💛
Your original post about why creative women don't finish classes made me mad (at myself), and then I sat with that feeling and decided to do something about it. I'm going to be documenting my progress through classes, as well as making note of the ones I'm letting go of. I know my worth and art arent tied to these classes, but I bought those classes for a reason, so I'm going to go back and get what I can from them, and let the rest of it go.
Suzanne, this gave me chills—in the best way. That’s some real, beautiful self-leadership right there: sitting with the feeling, deciding on purpose, and moving forward with intention.
Your worth and your art were never tied to those classes—but your curiosity was. And now you’re honoring that. I’ll be cheering you on every step of the way as you reclaim what’s yours and release what’s not.
